UPDATE: Dreana Walker, 26, Killed in Pedestrian Crash at Broadway St, Mahogany Dr in Vallejo

Vallejo, CA – On Thursday, July 30, 2026, a pedestrian collision resulted in the death of Dreana Walker, 26, marking the city’s ninth fatal traffic collision of the year, according to KRON.

The Vallejo Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:12 PM at the intersection of Broadway Street and Mahogany Drive.

Authorities said a driver traveling on Tuolumne Street entered the intersection at Broadway Street before continuing onto Mahogany Drive, leaving the roadway and striking multiple parked cars and Walker. Fire and medical personnel rendered immediate aid before she was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The Solano County Coroner’s Office formally identified her following her death. A person seated inside one of the legally parked cars sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported for evaluation. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Alcohol and other substances do not appear to have been factors in the crash. Community members gathered at the intersection to light candles and leave messages in Walker’s memory, and loved ones held a candlelight vigil at the site on Thursday at 6:00 PM to honor her.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Vallejo Pedestrian Accidents and Wrongful Death Claims

California law requires drivers to exercise an extra duty of care toward pedestrians, remaining vigilant and prepared to stop when pedestrians are present near the roadway. When a driver leaves the roadway and strikes a pedestrian, investigators with California law enforcement examine factors such as speed, vehicle control, and roadway conditions to determine the cause and whether the driver may bear liability.

Regardless of the findings, Walker’s family may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death claim can provide the family with compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, loss of consortium, and other damages related to the fatal accident.
