Fairfield, CA – On the morning of Thursday, August 6, 2026, a collision with a pickup truck resulted in a bicyclist losing their life, according to FOX40.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 11:54 AM on the eastbound Interstate 80 to Air Base Parkway off-ramp.
Authorities said the bicyclist was riding in or near the traffic lanes of the off-ramp as a Dodge Ram pickup truck exited Interstate 80. The driver saw the cyclist and steered onto the shoulder while braking in an attempt to avoid a collision, but was unable to do so. The cyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:06 PM.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have been factors in the crash. The off-ramp was closed until 2:24 PM before reopening. The cyclist’s identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Coroner’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
