Bakersfield, CA – In the early hours of Monday, August 10, 2026, a pedestrian hit-and-run resulted in the death of Antoine Cobbins, 48, of Bakersfield, on the 24th Street bridge over the Kern River, according to KBAK.
The Bakersfield Police Department reports that the accident took place around 5:35 AM.
Authorities said officers responded to a report of a pedestrian down in the road and found Cobbins after he had been struck by multiple vehicles. Several drivers left the scene without stopping. The Kern County Coroner’s Office formally identified him following his death.
