Plumas County Boating Accidents and Wrongful Death Claims

California law requires all boat operators to exercise reasonable care while navigating waterways, including refraining from operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. When an intoxicated operator causes a fatal collision on the water, that operator may bear liability for the resulting death in addition to facing potential criminal charges.

Regardless of the findings of the investigation, Skender’s family may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death claim can provide the family with compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, loss of consortium, and other damages related to the fatal accident.
