Monterey County, CA – On the evening of Friday, July 17, 2026, a hit-and-run involving two vehicles left at least one person with possible major injuries near Castroville, according to KSBW.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place on Highway 183 east of Espinosa Road.
Authorities said both lanes of Highway 183 were blocked as crews responded to the scene. The suspect fled on foot and had not been located as of Friday night. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and use Espinosa Road as a detour.
