San Francisco, CA – In the early hours of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, a pedestrian collision resulted in the death of David Reinhart, 57, of San Francisco, in the South of Market neighborhood, according to KRON.
The San Francisco Police Department reports that the accident took place around 4:07 AM in the 200 block of Sixth Street near Howard Street.
Authorities said paramedics responded and rendered aid to Reinhart before transporting him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died from his injuries at the hospital. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office formally identified Reinhart following his death.
According to pedestrian advocacy nonprofit Walk San Francisco, the crash marks the second fatality at the intersection of Sixth and Howard Streets in the past year, following the death of a 78-year-old man near the same location on August 10, 2025. Both streets are part of San Francisco’s High Injury Network, an area comprising 13 percent of city streets where 74 percent of serious traffic collisions occur, according to Walk SF.
The investigation remains ongoing.
