UPDATE: Bobby Criado, 19, ID’ed as 2nd Death after Ave 17, Road 28 1/2 Crash in Madera

Madera, CA – Bobby Criado, a 19-year-old passenger in a vehicle involved in a fatal two-vehicle collision on June 30, 2026, has died from his injuries, becoming the second fatality from the crash, according to KSEE/KGPE.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 9:46 PM at Avenue 17 and Road 28 1/2.

Authorities said Gutierrez was driving a white 2018 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on Avenue 17 when she allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection in the path of a black 2019 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 25-year-old Madera woman traveling southbound on Road 28 1/2, which had the right of way. The front of the Chevrolet struck the right side of the Jeep.

Both vehicles continued toward a nearby home, with the Jeep overturning before both came to rest after striking a parked vehicle and a support beam at the home. One vehicle caught fire following the crash, with CAL FIRE notified and responding.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene. The Madera County Sheriff’s Office formally identified her following the crash. Criado, a 19-year-old male passenger in the Chevrolet, sustained a catastrophic brain injury described as unsurvivable and was confirmed deceased on July 5.

Organizers of his GoFundMe described him as an organ donor who would be celebrated with an Honor Walk.

A 21-year-old female passenger in the Chevrolet also sustained injuries and was transported for treatment. The driver of the Jeep and one passenger sustained injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
