Willie Brown, 56, of Sacramento, Killed in a Pedestrian Crash at Watt Ave, Kings Way; DUI Suspected

Sacramento County, CA – In the early hours of Saturday, June 27, 2026, a suspected DUI collision resulted in the death of pedestrian Willie Brown, 56, of Sacramento, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place just after midnight at Watt Avenue and Kings Way.

Following the impact, all southbound lanes were closed while emergency personnel and investigators responded to the scene. Authorities said it appears that Brown was outside a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. 

The incident was initially classified as a major injury crash before being upgraded to a fatality at approximately 1:52 AM, indicating Brown succumbed to his injuries in the hours following the collision. 

The driver was identified and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. A flatbed tow was subsequently requested for the vehicle involved, and the scene was cleared in the early morning hours. 

It had not been determined at the time of reporting whether the driver would face additional charges in connection with Brown’s death. The investigation remains ongoing.
