Multi-Vehicle Crash near Naglee, Park Ave Kills 1, Injures 3 after Driver Flees Traffic Stop in San Jose

San Jose, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026, a multi-vehicle collision resulting from a driver fleeing a traffic stop resulted in one fatality and left three others injured, according to KRON.

The San Jose Police Department reports that the accident took place around 12:19 AM in the area of Naglee Avenue and Park Avenue.

Authorities said Santa Clara Police Department officers observed a gold Buick driving recklessly on Stevens Creek Boulevard, including on the center median and the wrong side of the road, and attempted a traffic stop.

The Buick failed to stop and fled through city streets in Santa Clara and onto Highway 880 into San Jose, where it ran a red light, collided with another car, and then struck a traffic pole.

A woman who was a passenger in the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Buick and two passengers in the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital with varying degrees of injuries.

Several streets in the area remained closed while officers investigated the crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact the San Jose Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit. The investigation remains ongoing.

Personal Injury Claims

After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A personal injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.

Passenger Liability

A driver’s liability coverage extends to those inside their vehicle as well as outside. In many cases, those passengers are someone who knows the driver personally. So, when a passenger is injured and their driver is found liable, they may feel reluctant to file a claim against the driver’s insurance.

In many cases, however, a wrongful death claim may be required for an insurer to offer a fair settlement that covers the injured party’s medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the accident. A personal injury attorney can facilitate this process and, as a neutral third party, help navigate any emotional complexities that may arise.
