Rohnert Park, CA – On the evening of Friday, May 29, 2026, a hit-and-run with an electric scooter left a young girl named Gisella, 12, hospitalized in the intensive care unit with major injuries, according to KRON.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety reports that the accident took place at the intersection of Waterside Lane and Bodway Parkway.
Authorities said two youths riding together on an electric scooter were struck by a Dodge Durango SUV whose driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid. Officers arrived to find both youths still in the roadway.
Gisella was transported to the intensive care unit with major injuries at the time of reporting. The second youth has been released from the hospital.
Detectives tracked down the suspected driver and located the Durango, making an arrest on Sunday. Tamisha Joeline Smith, 34, of Petaluma, was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.
Investigators also determined that Bradley Davis McCullough, 25, of Petaluma, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash, had assisted Smith in attempting to conceal the vehicle to evade detection and arrest. He was booked into jail on suspicion of accessory after-the-fact.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Gisella’s family with medical and recovery expenses.
Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety. The investigation remains ongoing.
California Hit-and-Run Laws
California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a personal injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
