Fremont, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, June 28, 2026, a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle, causing his death, according to KRON.
The Fremont Police Department reports that the accident took place around 4:30 PM at Auto Mall Parkway and Grimmer Boulevard.
Authorities said the man was riding an electric bike eastbound in a westbound bike lane near the Interstate 880 on-ramp when a vehicle traveling westbound in the designated right-turn lane for the northbound on-ramp collided with him.
The bicyclist sustained head trauma and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, a woman, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officers and was not injured. The collision marks Fremont’s sixth fatal traffic collision of 2026.
The cause of the crash had not been determined at the time of reporting. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is encouraged to contact the Fremont Police Department Traffic Unit. The investigation remains ongoing.
