San Leandro, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, May 11, 2026, a hit-and-run collision resulted in the death of Andrea Sanchez, 50, of San Leandro, according to KRON.
The San Leandro Police Department reports that the accident took place around 5:00 PM in the 14400 block of Corvallis Street.
Authorities said officers responded to multiple reports of a hit-and-run involving two vehicles and arrived to find Sanchez suffering from injuries related to the collision. The suspect fled the scene on foot, leaving the involved vehicle behind.
Sanchez was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau formally identified her following her death.
Traffic unit officers gathered evidence that led to Chuliao Wu, 32, of Oakland, being identified as the suspect. Wu was arrested on May 28 and booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and felony hit-and-run.
Charges were filed the following day by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
