May 14, 2026, Monterey, CA: A two-vehicle injury collision on a highway in Monterey took place on Thursday afternoon.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 4:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of SR-1 around the area of Casa Verde Way. Police confirmed that a black Mitsubishi Mirage and a black GMC SUV were involved in the collision. The two vehicles were left with extensive damages as a result.
Several local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. One party sustained injuries to the neck and back and was hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes until police cleared the scene.
