Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Florin Rd near Florin Perkins Rd in Sacramento County

Sacramento County, CA – In the early hours of Friday, May 22, 2026, a collision with a vehicle resulted in a pedestrian losing his life, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:35 AM on eastbound Florin Road west of Florin Perkins Road.

Authorities said the driver of a gray Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound on Florin Road when the vehicle struck a male pedestrian in the roadway. The driver immediately called 911 following the collision and remained at the scene, cooperating with officers.

Investigators noted that the driver reported not seeing the pedestrian due to the darkness at the time of the crash. It had not been determined at the time of reporting whether the pedestrian was crossing the roadway or standing within the traffic lanes when he was struck.

Officers attempted to provide medical aid at the scene, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead. The scene was cleared at approximately 3:45 AM. Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.

The identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Partial Liability in Pedestrian Accidents

California Law does not consider pedestrians to have the right-of-way under all circumstances, such as when they attempt to cross outside of a crosswalk. However, motorists are never relieved of the expectation to provide pedestrians with a duty of care toward their safety.

It may therefore be determined that a motorist is subject to partial liability in a pedestrian accident. Should that be the case, they would be financially responsible for the victim’s recovery costs in proportion to their degree of liability.
