Crash on Bus 80 near El Camino Ave Off-Ramp Kills Pedestrian in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA – In the early hours of Friday, May 22, 2026, a collision with a vehicle resulted in a pedestrian losing their life, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 2:57 AM on southbound Business 80 just north of the El Camino Avenue off-ramp.

Authorities said a red sedan was involved in the collision and pulled to the right shoulder following the impact. A traffic break was initiated across three to four lanes while officers responded to the scene. The coroner was notified and responded, and an evidence tow was requested for the red sedan.

Three lanes were closed, including the El Camino Avenue off-ramp, while officers investigated the scene. All lanes were reopened at approximately 4:50 AM following the conclusion of on-scene proceedings.

No additional details regarding the identity of the deceased or the full circumstances of the collision had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
