Monterey County, CA – On the evening of Tuesday, May 27, 2026, a collision left one person hospitalized with major injuries and prompted an extended road closure after a utility pole was knocked down near Salinas, according to KSBW.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 8:50 PM at Espinosa Road and Christensen Road.
Authorities said the two-vehicle collision took out a utility pole and blocked the roadway. One person was transported to a local hospital with major injuries, while two others sustained injuries at the scene.
Espinosa Road at Christensen Road was closed while officers investigated the crash, with Espinosa Road west of Christensen Road remaining closed for an extended period to allow for utility pole repair work by PG&E.
The roadway was fully reopened at approximately 4:32 PM on Wednesday, later than PG&E’s initial estimated reopening of noon.
No additional details regarding the identities of those involved or the circumstances of the collision had been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
Personal Injury Claims
After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A personal injury claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
