May 18, 2026, Monterey, CA: Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place at an intersection in Monterey on Monday afternoon.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of Carpenteria Road and Vega Street. Police confirmed that a van and an SUV collided with each other, sending one of the vehicles into a pole with extensive damages.
When paramedics arrived, one person was out of their vehicle and lying on the ground, unconscious. It is believed possibly one or more other parties sustained injuries as well. The injured victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The road was blocked in the area for some time after the accident.
