May 24, 2026, Santa Maria, CA: Two people were injured in a car accident that took place on a major highway in Santa Maria on Sunday.
According to KSBY, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 135 just south of Orcutt. Police confirmed that a driver lost control of their vehicle, causing it to crash off the side of the road and roll onto its side.
Paramedics and other emergency responders were called to the scene. Two people who were inside the vehicle sustained major injuries. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Due to the severity of the accident, only one lane of traffic was open on the highway in the area for several hours. Traffic was diverted onto Graciosa Road for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
