Davis, CA – On the afternoon of Monday, April 13, 2026, a collision between a car and a bicycle resulted in Lincoln Wells Sabini losing his life near UC Davis campus, according to KCRA.
The UC Davis Police Department reports that the accident took place just before 3:00 PM on Hutchison Drive near the West Village housing area.
Authorities said Sabini was transported to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center following the collision, where he was pronounced dead.
Sabini was a second-year UC Davis student majoring in sustainable agriculture and food systems. He was a member of the UC Davis Triathlon Sports Club, a swimming instructor with Campus Recreation, and worked on the UC Davis Student Farm. He was a graduate of C.K. McClatchy High School in Sacramento.
UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May described the loss as deeply painful for the university community and expressed gratitude to the first responders who worked at the scene. The UC Davis Triathlon Sports Club remembered Sabini as a dedicated athlete and an even better friend, noting his hard work ethic, love of learning, and his ability to bring out the best in his teammates.
The university stated that it is following its postvention guidelines, which include outreach, coordination, and support services for students affected by the sudden death. The UC Davis Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation in coordination with other agencies. The investigation remains ongoing.
