Yuba County, CA – On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, a head-on collision resulted in the death of a woman and left the driver of the other vehicle hospitalized, according to ABC10, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place shortly after 2:00 PM on Marysville Road south of Bald Mountain Road.

Authorities said the woman was driving a Nissan Maxima northbound on Marysville Road when, for reasons yet to be determined, she crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Toyota Tacoma. Witnesses reported the Nissan had been swerving across the roadway prior to the collision.

The pickup truck came to rest approximately 15 feet down an embankment, and the sedan came to rest in the southbound lane. Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage and required evidence tows.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said she is believed to have been involved in a pursuit with the CHP Grass Valley office the previous evening, during which she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence before being released from jail. Alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.

The identity of the deceased was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.

Personal Injury Claims

When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a personal injury claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
