Sacramento, CA – On the evening of Saturday, March 7, 2026, a pedestrian hit-and-run resulted in the death of a 44-year-old man in the Robla neighborhood, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The Sacramento Police Department reports that the accident took place just after 8:00 PM at Norwood and Jessie Avenues.
Authorities said officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle and found a 44-year-old unhoused man lying in the roadway. Officers attempted life-saving measures at the scene, and firefighters subsequently pronounced the man dead. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office indicated it would release the victim’s name following notification of next of kin.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision. One driver fled the scene before officers arrived, while the other remained and cooperated with investigators. Authorities have not released a description of the suspect vehicle at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the Sacramento Police Department continues to search for the driver who fled the scene.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver evade authorities, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
