Sacramento County, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, March 25, 2026, a pedestrian collision resulted in the death of a man in his 40s, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place just before 10:00 PM on Bradshaw Road near Countryroads Drive, along the boundary between unincorporated Rosemont and the city of Rancho Cordova.
Authorities said responding officers and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews arrived to find the man lying in the roadway after being struck by a vehicle. Bystanders had attempted to resuscitate the man before emergency crews arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the collision.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the man’s identity following notification of his family. The investigation remains ongoing.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a duty of care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a wrongful death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
