San Jose, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, March 29, 2026, a suspected DUI collision resulted in the death of a man and left two others hospitalized, according to NBC Bay Area.
The San Jose Police Department reports that the accident took place around 1:05 AM at Curtner Avenue and the southbound Highway 87 off-ramp.
Authorities said a juvenile male was driving a Honda Accord with a female passenger westbound on Curtner Avenue when the vehicle crashed into a Chevrolet Malibu that was turning onto eastbound Curtner from the southbound Highway 87 off-ramp.
The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was to be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner following notification of next of kin.
The juvenile driver and his passenger were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The juvenile was subsequently booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. His exact age had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.
Authorities noted that the collision marked San Jose’s tenth deadly crash of 2026. The investigation remains ongoing.
