Salinas, CA – On the evening of Friday, March 14, 2026, a vehicle-versus-bicycle collision resulted in the death of a woman in her 60s, according to KCRA.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place on Davis Road near Central Avenue.
Authorities said the bicyclist was traveling southbound on Davis Road when a truck traveling in the same direction struck her. Two additional vehicles subsequently struck the bicyclist following the initial impact. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.
Davis Road was shut down for several hours following the collision while investigators processed the scene. The drivers involved remained at the scene and were cooperating with authorities. Law enforcement determined that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
The identity of the deceased had not been released at the time of reporting. The investigation remains ongoing.
Bicycle Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards bicyclists, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by bicycle and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a bicycle accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
