Vallejo, CA – On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the victim of a pedestrian collision lost his life due to injuries he received two weeks prior, according to KRON.
The Vallejo Police Department reports that the accident took place around 6:46 PM on February 5, at Sacramento and Buckle streets.
Authorities said officers responded to the intersection and located a critically injured man lying in the northbound lane of Sacramento Street after he had been struck by a vehicle. Emergency personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, the man later succumbed to his injuries, weeks after the initial crash.
Police stated that the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Authorities indicated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been contributing factors at this time.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin by the Solano County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office. The collision marks Vallejo’s fifth fatal traffic incident of the year.
Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the crash to contact the Vallejo Police Department Traffic Division.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, which includes being vigilant for those travelling by foot and, if a collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver evade authorities, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
