CHP Officer Tyler Lenaburg Rescues Firefighter Trent Pajer after Motorcycle Crash at Fiddyment Rd, Sunset Blvd

Roseville, CA – An off-duty officer with the California Highway Patrol is being credited with helping save the life of a CAL FIRE firefighter who was injured in a motorcycle crash, according to ABC10.

The CHP Auburn Area office reports that the collision occurred at approximately 5:58 PM on February 6, 2026, at the intersection of Fiddyment Road and Sunset Boulevard in Placer County. The incident involved a motorcycle and a Jeep.

Authorities reported that Officer Tyler Lenaburg, assigned to the CHP’s Santa Rosa Area office, was off duty at the time and traveling northbound with his fiancée, Taylor, when they witnessed the crash. Investigators said a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was struck after a Jeep turned left in front of the rider, impacting the motorcycle’s left side. The force of the collision ejected the rider, who came to rest approximately 100 yards from the initial point of impact.

Lenaburg immediately stopped and began rendering aid. Upon assessment, he observed the motorcycle rider had sustained a life-threatening injury to his left leg. He retrieved a personal emergency medical kit from his vehicle and applied a tourniquet in an effort to control significant bleeding.

While Lenaburg administered first aid, Taylor contacted emergency services. The couple remained with the injured motorcyclist until paramedics arrived. They used personal clothing items to help maintain the rider’s body temperature as he drifted in and out of consciousness.

The motorcyclist was later identified as Trent Pajer, an off-duty firefighter assigned to Colfax Fire Station 30. Members of his chain of command expressed appreciation for Lenaburg’s prompt response and decisive medical intervention at the scene.

Lenaburg, who has approximately four months of service with the CHP, and his fiancée later visited Pajer at the hospital. They met with his family and fellow fire personnel who had also responded to the crash.

CHP Auburn officials stated that Lenaburg’s actions reflect the department’s commitment to public safety and professionalism, noting that his willingness to intervene while off duty was consistent with agency standards and training.

Personal Injury Claims

After a traffic accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A Personal Injury Claim allows accident victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
