Solano County, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, a woman was killed, and a man was injured in a wrong-way crash, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred at approximately 6:00 PM on southbound Interstate 505, just north of the Allendale Road on-ramp. The crash involved a Subaru Forester traveling southbound and a Toyota Prius that was traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway.
According to investigators, the Toyota Prius entered the southbound lanes while traveling against traffic and collided with the Subaru. The driver of the Prius was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The man driving the Subaru sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in Vacaville for medical treatment. Authorities have not released details regarding the severity of his injuries.
As a result of the collision, all southbound lanes of Interstate 505 at Allendale Road were temporarily closed. CHP issued a SigAlert while emergency crews, investigators, and tow operators worked at the scene. The Solano County Coroner was notified and responded, and evidence tows were conducted as part of standard procedures for fatal collisions.
The roadway was reopened later in the evening after the investigation and cleanup were completed. CHP stated the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details regarding contributing factors have been released.
