Modesto, CA – On the evening of Thursday, January 23, 2026, a train versus pedestrian collision resulted in fatal injuries to Sara Millicent, 48, of Modesto, according to The Modesto Bee.
The Modesto Police Department reports that the accident took place around 5:20 PM near the intersection of 9th and L streets.
Police said officers were dispatched to the downtown area after receiving reports that a Union Pacific Railroad train had struck a pedestrian. Upon arrival, authorities located Millicent at the scene with severe injuries consistent with a train-related impact.
Emergency medical personnel transported her to a local hospital for treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, she later died from her injuries, authorities said.
