Modesto, CA – On the evening of Thursday, January 23, 2026, a train versus pedestrian collision resulted in fatal injuries to Sara Millicent, 48, of Modesto, according to The Modesto Bee.

The Modesto Police Department reports that the accident took place around 5:20 PM near the intersection of 9th and L streets.

Police said officers were dispatched to the downtown area after receiving reports that a Union Pacific Railroad train had struck a pedestrian. Upon arrival, authorities located Millicent at the scene with severe injuries consistent with a train-related impact.

Emergency medical personnel transported her to a local hospital for treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, she later died from her injuries, authorities said.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim and confirmed the cause of death as injuries sustained in the collision. Officials noted that next-of-kin notifications were completed in accordance with standard procedure.
