Pedestrian Crash Kills Oakdale Man, 29, near SR-108, Langworth Rd

Oakdale, CA – In the early hours of Wednesday, January 14, 2026, a 29-year-old man from Oakdale was killed after being struck by a pickup truck on State Route 108 east of Langworth Road, according to FOX40, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:25 AM following reports of a pedestrian lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located the man unresponsive on the highway.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and assessed the victim. He was pronounced dead at the location due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Investigators determined that a 67-year-old man was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Highway 108 when the pedestrian was allegedly walking in the middle of the roadway.

Following the collision, the driver of the pickup truck pulled over to the right shoulder and remained at the scene. Authorities reported the driver was cooperative with the investigation.

CHP said the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. It remains unknown whether impairment was a factor for the pedestrian.

As part of standard fatal collision procedures, emergency responders requested assistance from fire and medical services. The eastbound lane was temporarily affected while officers secured the scene and initiated an investigation.

A coroner was notified and responded to the location. Evidence tows were arranged for the involved vehicle, and the area was documented before being cleared.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing. No additional information was immediately available.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Partial Liability in Pedestrian Accidents

California Law does not consider pedestrians to have the right-of-way under all circumstances, such as if they attempt to cross outside of a crosswalk. However, motorists are never relieved of the expectation to provide pedestrians with a Duty of Care toward their safety.

It may therefore be determined that a motorist is subject to only partial liability in a pedestrian accident. Should that be the case, they would be financially responsible for the victim’s recovery costs in proportion to their degree of liability.
