January 25, 2026, Merced, CA: A head-on collision that led to major injuries took place on a highway in Merced on Sunday evening.
According to Your Central Valley, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Highway 140 just east of Rogers Road. Police discovered that two vehicles collided head-on with one another. A 46-year-old, Francisco Juan, was driving a Toyota Prius while another driver was headed west in a Nissan Altima. Juan’s vehicle suddenly drifted into the other lane of traffic, colliding head-on into the Altima.
Two occupants inside the Nissan sustained major injuries and had to be airlifted to the hospital. Juan also sustained major injuries and was hospitalized.
Juan was arrested since then after being suspected of DUI. He received felony DUI charges.
No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the accident continues.
