January 11, 2026, Fresno, CA: One person tragically lost their life in a fatal multi-vehicle collision on a Fresno highway on Sunday morning.
The accident, according to Your Central Valley, took place at 9:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 around the area of Cedar Avenue. Police confirmed that visibility was low due to fog in the area, which impacted traffic. When vehicles in the number one and two lanes slowed down, the crash involving 15 vehicles took place. Vehicles behind the first few were traveling too fast and it led to a chain-reaction crash with severe damages.
One person was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of their injuries. Several people also sustained minor to major injuries. They were taken to a hospital by a Fresno FAX bus.
Due to the severity of the accident, the road was impacted in the area for several hours. Police urged drivers to find alternate routes.
