January 18, 2026, Fowler, CA: One person was killed in a fatal big rig accident that took place on a major roadway in Fowler on Sunday morning.
According to Your Central Valley, the collision happened at 7:30 a.m. on Clovis Avenue near the area of Highway 99. Police confirmed that a big rig hauling tomatoes was involved in a collision with a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. The driver of the big rig was making a turn to go onto Golden State Boulevard when it was involved in the crash.
Due to the force of the collision, the pickup truck ended up underneath the big rig. It was dragged under the big rig until the truck driver was able to stop. Then, the Chevrolet caught on fire. Officers believe that visibility was a factor since there was immense fog at the time of the incident.
The driver of the Chevrolet was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of their injuries. The driver of the big rig was not hurt and remained on scene.
Due to the severity of the accident, Clovis was blocked for several hours.
