Alameda County, CA – On the morning of Thursday, December 11, 2025, a gas explosion in the unincorporated community of Ashland caused a major fire and left six people injured, according to KCRA.
The Alameda County Fire Department reports that the explosion took place shortly after 9:25 AM near a residential property in the Ashland area, close to Hayward.
Fire officials said the blast destroyed at least one home, severely damaged two others on adjacent lots, and sent debris flying across the neighborhood. Six individuals were taken to hospitals, with three transported immediately for more serious injuries and three others treated for less severe wounds. Authorities noted that responding firefighters briefly retreated when downed power lines caused electrical shocks at the scene.
Residents described a violent jolt that shook nearby houses and shattered windows. Video from a doorbell camera showed construction equipment operating near the home just moments before the structure erupted, sending smoke and flames into the sky. County officials said a construction crew had damaged an underground gas line at around 7:35 AM, prompting Pacific Gas & Electric Co. to work to isolate the leak. Crews halted the flow of gas at 9:25 AM, but the explosion occurred shortly afterward.
Approximately 75 firefighters responded to contain the blaze as it spread through the debris. By Thursday night, authorities confirmed that all residents had been accounted for, and the Red Cross was assisting displaced families. The National Transportation Safety Board announced that it is sending a team to investigate the incident.
Personal Injury Claims
After a serious accident, victims and their families often deal with unexpected financial burdens, such as medical bills, lost income, and, in the worst cases, burial costs. A Personal Injury Claim allows victims to hold the at-fault party financially responsible for their costs of care.
