Fresno County, CA – On the morning of Monday, December 1, 2025, a worker was killed after being crushed while working on an oil rig near Riverdale, according to ABC30.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident took place around 10:45 AM in a field near Mt. Whitney and Polk avenues.
Authorities said deputies found a 29-year-old man who had been crushed by a large piece of steel that swung down from the rig. Emergency responders confirmed he was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
Investigators indicated that the victim was working with a company to dismantle an oil rig on the property at the time of the accident.
Cal/OSHA is leading an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the incident to determine how the fatal accident occurred and whether any safety protocols were breached.
