UPDATE: Elena Kellogg, 28, Samantha Kellogg, 2, Named in Fatal Walnut, Jefferson Ave Crash near Easton

Fresno County, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, December 17, 2025, a two-vehicle collision resulted in fatal injuries to 28-year-old Samantha Kellogg and her 2-year-old daughter, Elena Kellogg, and minor injuries to two teenagers, according to KFSN.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 10:00 AM at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Jefferson Avenue near the community of Easton.

Authorities said Samantha Kellogg was driving a Honda Civic when the vehicle traveled through a stop sign and entered the intersection, where it collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe. Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash. The impact caused severe damage to the Honda Civic, and Elena Kellogg was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency responders pronounced Samantha Kellogg dead at the scene. Elena Kellogg was transported to a hospital with critical injuries and later died despite medical efforts. Two teenagers inside the Chevrolet Tahoe sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for evaluation, where they were expected to survive.

The collision remains under investigation. Authorities noted that the area has seen multiple serious crashes in recent years and emphasized the importance of proper child restraint use, adding that local law enforcement agencies provide assistance to help ensure child car seats are installed correctly.

Ongoing Investigations

Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.

Stop Sign Laws

California Law requires drivers to come to a complete stop at a Stop sign (California Vehicle Code 22450). Drivers may only enter the intersection when it appears safe for all parties to do so (California Vehicle Code 21802).

Wrongful Death Claims

Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
