Sacramento, CA – On the afternoon of Sunday, December 14, 2025, a crash in South Sacramento left one pedestrian dead and two others injured, according to FOX40.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 4:00 PM on Mack Road near Elsie Avenue.
CHP’s preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling eastbound on Mack Road allegedly failed to stop for a red light and collided with another vehicle turning right onto Elsie Avenue from Stockton Boulevard.
The impact sent the second vehicle into the path of a pedestrian standing on a concrete island between eastbound and westbound lanes. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver who was believed to have run the red light was transported to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Another individual involved in the crash was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. CHP reported that a person inside the overturned vehicle was ejected and may have been struck by another vehicle during the sequence of collisions.
Authorities said it is currently unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances to determine the cause and contributing factors of the incident.
