Ceres, CA – On the afternoon of Saturday, December 28, 2025, a single-vehicle crash in a school parking lot resulted in major injuries to a 16-year-old boy after he fell from a pickup truck, according to FOX40.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place at Hidahl Elementary School.
Authorities stated that officers responded to a report of a traffic collision within the school parking lot and located a 1999 GMC pickup involved in the incident. Investigators said a 16-year-old boy was found lying on the asphalt with major injuries and was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment.
CHP officials reported that another 16-year-old boy was driving the GMC pickup at the time of the incident and was not injured. Preliminary findings indicate that the injured teen had been sitting on the lowered tailgate when the driver accelerated, causing the passenger to fall from the vehicle.
Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash based on initial evidence. The incident remains under investigation as CHP continues to review vehicle operation, passenger positioning, and other contributing factors in accordance with standard traffic collision investigation procedures.
