Modesto, CA – On the morning of Thursday, December 11, 2025, a head-on collision left one man dead and another with major injuries, according to FOX40, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 3:35 AM near Albers Road south of Dusty Lane.
CHP’s preliminary investigation determined that 23-year-old Alberto Ochoaaguilar, driving a 2016 Chrysler sedan southbound on Albers Road, turned his vehicle to the left for unknown reasons and entered the northbound lane directly in front of a 1999 Nissan pickup driven by a 55-year-old man from Modesto. The resulting head-on crash caused severe damage to both vehicles.
Ochoaaguilar sustained major injuries and was transported to Oak Valley Hospital for treatment. The 55-year-old driver of the Nissan succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Authorities noted that it is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. Emergency personnel responded quickly, clearing debris from the roadway and documenting extensive damage from the impact. Both vehicles came to rest on Albers Road following the collision, which shut down the roadway in the early hours.
CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors and is urging drivers to exercise caution on Albers Road, particularly during early morning hours when visibility is reduced.
Ongoing Investigations
Victims of traffic accidents and their families should be aware that authorities may fail to note or even misinterpret critical evidence at a crash site. One of the services that a Personal Injury Attorney can provide is to pursue follow-up investigations, which can reveal additional evidence to correct any errors made by previous investigators.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
