Fresno, CA – In the early hours of Sunday, November 9, 2025, a two-vehicle collision believed to involve an impaired driver claimed the life of 30-year-old Crystal Barrera of Fresno, according to The Fresno Bee.

The Fresno Police Department reports that the crash took place around 1:45 AM at the intersection of Cedar and McKinley avenues.

Authorities said a Honda traveling north on Cedar Avenue at a high rate of speed rear-ended a Chevy Impala in the No. 1 lane. The impact forced the Chevy through the intersection and into the southbound lanes of Cedar, where it came to rest. 

Barrera, a passenger in the Impala, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Impala suffered serious injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the driver of the Honda sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital. Investigators determined that the Honda’s driver was suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the collision. 

The incident remains under active investigation by Fresno Police.
