Bakersfield, CA – On the evening of Saturday, October 26, 2025, a collision between a vehicle and a bicyclist claimed the life of 32-year-old Marcio Cardiel, according to KGET.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place on Weedpatch Highway near Muller Road.

Authorities said Cardiel, a Bakersfield resident, had been riding his bicycle along Weedpatch Highway when a vehicle traveling in the same area struck him. The impact caused catastrophic injuries, leaving Cardiel critically hurt. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the driver involved in the collision fled before officers arrived. The Kern County Coroner’s Office later confirmed Cardiel’s identity and notified the public of his passing.
