October 26, 2025, Bakersfield, CA: On Sunday night, a bicyclist tragically lost their life in a hit-and-run accident in Bakersfield.
According to Bakersfield Now, the accident occurred at 9:40 p.m. on Weedpatch Highway just north of Muller Road. Police confirmed that a bicyclist was traveling north near the edge of the road when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle also headed north. The vehicle struck the rear of the bicycle, causing the bicyclist to be ejected onto the shoulder. The driver fled the scene without stopping.
The bicyclist, identified only as an adult male, was tragically pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
Police did not yet confirm if they caught the driver responsible for the collision. Their investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
