Palo Alto, CA – In the late afternoon of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle resulted in the death of the rider, according to CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 5:02 PM at the Interstate 280 southbound off-ramp to Page Mill Road.

CHP officials said a white Ram pickup truck struck a black Ducati motorcycle in the southbound lanes. The impact threw the motorcyclist into the roadway, where the rider came to rest in the middle lanes of traffic. Emergency crews responded quickly and provided medical attention, but officials confirmed the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries at 6:19 PM. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

Responders blocked multiple lanes as paramedics treated the rider and officers conducted an initial investigation. Traffic backed up through the late afternoon commute until crews cleared the vehicles to the right shoulder around 5:51 PM. Tow operators later removed the motorcycle and pickup truck from the scene.

Investigators worked for several hours to determine how the crash unfolded. CHP has not said whether excessive speed, driver error, or hazardous conditions contributed to the collision. Authorities have not confirmed if the driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries.

CHP continues to investigate the fatal crash. The agency will release the motorcyclist’s name once the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office notifies next of kin.
