Roseville, CA – On the morning of Thursday, September 11, 2025, Juan Lopez, 91, died after a pedestrian collision at a Roseville intersection, according to ABC10.
The Roseville Police Department reports that the accident took place around 6:00 AM at the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and King Road.
Lopez attempted to cross the intersection when a vehicle struck him in the roadway. The impact caused severe trauma, and emergency crews responded quickly to provide medical aid. Despite their efforts, Lopez died at the scene from his injuries. Officials confirmed his identity later in the week after notifying his family.
Police said the driver involved in the collision stayed at the intersection and contacted 911 immediately. Investigators interviewed the motorist and found no evidence that alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Authorities did not report any physical injuries to the driver.
The collision caused major disruptions along Douglas Boulevard. Roseville’s traffic investigators shut down several lanes for hours as they collected evidence, measured skid marks, and documented the sequence of events. Crews also directed traffic to side streets until the roadway reopened shortly before noon.
Investigators continue to review the circumstances that led to the crash. The Roseville Police Department asks anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact investigators as they work to complete their report.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
For those who lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, filing a Wrongful Death claim with the assistance of an experienced attorney can provide compensation for medical bills, funeral costs, and other related damages.
Should the at-fault driver avoid legal consequences, compensation might still be available through a family member’s uninsured driver coverage. Consulting with a personal injury attorney can help determine the best options in such cases.
