Pismo Beach, CA – On the evening of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Eriberto Rodriguez Reyes, 23, allegedly drove into the Ocean Palms Motel and critically injured two people, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.
The Pismo Beach Police Department reports that the collision took place around 8:30 PM at the corner of Ocean View Avenue and Dolliver Street.
Investigators said Rodriguez Reyes lost control of his vehicle while traveling through the intersection. His car veered onto the sidewalk and struck two people before smashing into the side of the motel.
Emergency crews treated both pedestrians at the scene, then transported them to Adventist Health Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo. Doctors described their condition as critical late Wednesday, but officials confirmed that both had stabilized by Thursday afternoon.
The crash opened a large hole in the side of the motel, destroying about one-quarter of the structure that included the lobby. Firefighters and inspectors declared the damaged section unsafe, although guest rooms did not suffer damage. The owners briefly entered the lobby to collect electronics before a second inspection was scheduled.
Rodriguez Reyes sustained minor injuries and received medical care before officers placed him under arrest on suspicion of felony DUI. Police booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause others to be injured, the cost of recovery should not fall on their victims. Filing a Personal Injury Claim with the at-fault party’s insurance can provide compensation for medical bills and lost wages during recovery.
California DUI Law
Section 23153(a) of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) states that it is illegal for any driver to “Operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and, as a result, cause bodily injury to someone else.”
