Santa Rosa Woman, Dog Injured in Pedestrian Crash on West Steele Ln near Northwest Community Park

Santa Rosa, CA – On the evening of Thursday, August 14, 2025, a pedestrian collision critically injured a woman and her dog, according to KRON.

The Santa Rosa Police Department reports that the accident took place around 7:25 PM near Northwest Community Park on the 2600 block of West Steele Lane.

Police stated that the woman attempted to cross West Steele Lane toward the park when a gray Honda struck her. Officers, firefighters, and medical personnel responded to multiple 911 calls and located the victim lying unconscious in the westbound lane. Emergency crews transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The collision also struck the woman’s dog. Sonoma County Animal Control officers transported the animal to a local veterinary hospital, where it received medical care. Police confirmed that the dog survived its injuries.

Authorities reported that the driver of the Honda stopped immediately after the collision. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers confirmed that speed did not appear to be a contributing factor.

Police closed West Steele Lane between Apache Road and Marlow Road for approximately two hours while they conducted their investigation. Officials confirmed that the roadway has since reopened.

This is an ongoing investigation.
