Jesus Juarez, 28, of Arvin Killed in East Bear Mountain Blvd, Adobe Rd Crash in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA – In the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, 2025, a head-on collision killed Christian Jesus Juarez, 28, of Arvin, and sent three other people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 12:45 AM on East Bear Mountain Boulevard, just east of Adobe Road.

Investigators said that a 76-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota Sienna westbound on East Bear Mountain Boulevard at an unknown speed. At the same time, Juarez was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla eastbound. For reasons still under investigation, the Sienna crossed into the eastbound lane directly in the path of the Corolla. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing devastating damage.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene. Juarez was pronounced dead at the site of the collision. The two passengers in the Corolla suffered severe injuries, including broken bones and possible internal trauma, and were rushed to Kern Medical for treatment. The driver of the Sienna sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to Kern Medical.

Authorities emphasized that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to have played a role in the crash. CHP investigators continue to examine the scene and collect evidence to determine what caused the Sienna to veer into oncoming traffic. The highway reopened later in the morning after crews removed debris and towed both vehicles.
