Tracy, CA – On the morning of Saturday, August 2, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision involving two big rigs and a pickup truck caused fatal injuries to a passenger on Interstate 205, according to KCRA, with additional reporting from CHP Fatal.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the accident took place around 6:05 AM near the eastbound lanes of I-205, just east of MacArthur Drive.

According to authorities, the crash involved two big rigs and a Toyota Tacoma pickup. For reasons still under investigation, the pickup traveled across traffic toward the right-hand shoulder of the highway, where it struck the rear of a disabled big rig’s trailer. The impact severely damaged the Toyota, and a passenger inside the vehicle was ejected. Emergency responders pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the family.

The driver of the Toyota and other involved parties remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No additional serious injuries were reported.

Traffic was heavily impacted in the aftermath of the crash, with all eastbound lanes temporarily closed and vehicles diverted to the center divide. A SigAlert was issued as emergency personnel, including the Tracy Fire Department and the California Department of Transportation, worked to clear the roadway. Full access to the freeway was gradually restored later in the morning.

CHP stated that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation, and officials urge any witnesses or individuals with relevant information to contact local authorities
