San Felipe, CA – On the night of Monday, August 18, 2025, a two-vehicle collision involving a big rig and a truck caused a fatality, according to CHP Fatal.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident took place around 10:44 PM at State Route 152 and Lovers Lane.
According to CHP dispatch records, a big rig and a pickup truck collided, leaving the pickup driver pinned inside. Responders attempted to reach the driver, who remained pinned in the seat. It was later confirmed that the pickup driver was killed in the crash.
Reports the big rig involved spilled approximately 20 gallons of fuel onto the roadway. Emergency crews worked to contain the hazard as traffic shut down in both directions on State Route 152. Officials initiated a full closure at Lovers Lane and Bloomfield to divert traffic, while Caltrans crews responded to assist with a hard closure and cleanup.
Authorities lifted the full closure by 3:29 AM Tuesday when all lanes reopened and the SigAlert was canceled. The incident remains under investigation by CHP.
Wrongful Death Claims
Even if a fatal accident doesn’t lead to criminal charges, families who lose a loved one can still file a Wrongful Death claim against the at-fault driver’s insurance. This can provide support to help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income.
