August 22, 2025, Bakersfield, CA: One person was killed in a fatal bicycle accident at a Bakersfield intersection on Friday night.
According to information provided by Bakersfield Now, the accident happened at 8:27 p.m. at the intersection of Buena Vista Boulevard and South Fairfax Road. Police confirmed that a driver was traveling in a silver pickup truck when they suddenly collided with a man on a bicycle.
The bicyclist, identified only as an adult male, was tragically pronounced dead on scene as a result of his injuries. Nobody else was injured.
Several westbound lanes of traffic were blocked on Buena Vista until the scene was cleared. Police urged those to avoid the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
