Fresno County, CA – On the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, a pedestrian hit-and-run near Sanger resulted in the fatal injury of Adan Ochoa, 44, of Reedley, according to KGET.
The California Highway Patrol reports that officers and deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and found Ochoa deceased on the south shoulder of Jensen Avenue, just east of Del Rey Avenue, around 6:30 AM.
Investigators collected evidence at the scene and determined that a dark gray metallic Toyota Avalon with damage to the right front area was likely the suspect vehicle involved in the collision. Community members provided valuable tips that helped law enforcement identify a possible suspect vehicle and residence connected to the incident.
Ochoa was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. At this time, authorities are withholding the identity of the suspect as the investigation, and investigations remain ongoing.
The California Highway Patrol urges anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any additional information related to the fatal hit-and-run to contact them to assist with the case.
California Hit-and-Run Laws
California Law requires drivers involved in a collision to stop their vehicle, notify law enforcement, and exchange insurance information with others involved. Failure to do so, considered to be a “hit-and-run,” is a misdemeanor in cases of property damage and a felony when someone has been injured.
Pedestrian Fatalities and Wrongful Death Claims
Drivers have a Duty of Care towards pedestrians, who are particularly vulnerable in traffic accidents. This responsibility includes being vigilant for bicyclists with whom they share the road and, if a fatal collision occurs, staying with the victim, alerting emergency responders, and cooperating with authorities investigating the crash.
